John Michie begins his cross country journey at a reconstructed 17th century township in the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore in the Cairngorms and visits Castle Urquhart on the banks of Scotland's most famous loch, Loch Ness, to discover what life was like if you were wealthy in the 17th century.
Episode 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTaIzSBI7TM

John Michie is in Fort William, continuing his journey through the history of the Scottish Highlands and talks of the complex wrangling with the monarchy in the second half of the 17th century.
Episode 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZbeMF-t1Zc

John begins this part of his journey at Braemar Castle, near the site of the raising of the standard in support of James Stuart the "Old Pretender". Later John arrives at Glenfinnan, where one of Scotland's most famous characters landed, Bonnie Prince Charlie, to begin his campaign to regain the throne for the Stuart dynasty.
Episode 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5J4j3bVFsA

John Michie's journey around the spectacular Highlands begins at Fort George just outside Nairn, the site of Europe's largest military garrison today. The journey continues up the stunning west coast of the Highlands to Ullapool where Bob Matheson tells John of the people who left the area in 1773 aboard the Ship Hector, bound for Nova Scotia in Canada.
Episode 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zNj_E_W-Ho

This programme begins in Bettyhill on the most northerly coast of Britain, where John Michie meets Elliot Rudie who runs the Strathnaver Museum in a long unused local church. In 1854 the Greenyards were cleared in an event now known as the Massacre of the Rosses. John visits Criock Church, where the people forced off their land took shelter in the churchyard.
Episode 6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSuqMeW1jRE

John Michie begins with a visit to Dunrobin Castle; the clan seat of the Sutherlands the biggest landowners in Britain in the 19th century, a symbol of the wealth generated by the new economic changes sweeping the Highlands at that time. After the peace and emptiness of the Highlands, John finally leaves for the city of Glasgow, where many of the highlanders ended up in search of employment.
